Fifty Shades of Run Away

I made a bunch of cookies because I was bored as shit today and I really regret it because they're called "Chocolate Dreams" but one cookie is like 200 chocolate bars. Like I'm teetering between eating another because I hate myself and never eating chocolate again.

Their delicious as fuck though. At least I know I can still fucking bake since it feels like I lost that ability. I used to make my own bread. Now I'd rather sleep all day like a fat fucking cat.

In other news, my Kindle should get here either Friday or Monday so I spent some of the day trying to gather my favourite fanfics on the Internet. And I only have 15 and it's really sad in my opinion. Now I don't know if that's because I haven't FOUND the epic gems of the Internet yet in my fandoms or if I have too high of standards but I was really hoping for more. I went on AO3 and ahahaha nope so much. So much nope on there, so many painful reads.

I don't know. I tried Fanfiction.net once and I just laughed for a long time when I went to the Pokemon and Zelda portals. I remember reading one Uncharted fic on there once that started out promising but then romance got involved and it turned awful. Actually, that's always my problem with a lot of fics. As soon as ooggles and wuggles get involved I bail because fucking hell, stop it. If I want to read that shit I'll go buy the penny novels at the used bookstore.

Mentioning books too, I went on the kindle store and I have no clue what to even read on there. Everything looks like garbage, like Fifty Shades of Not Okay garbage. So, I don't know. I think I'll be downloading a lot of old books on my kindle and then just hoping I find something good in the coming weeks. I really miss reading fanfiction. I even give some grammar a pass if the concept is good. Just... ugh romance noooo.

The dangers of a good chocolate cookie. Sometimes you just have to say screw it and give in…unless you end up eating like half the cookies. D: which is hard not to do sometimes.

The romance factor is what ultimately killed it for me with fanfic so long ago. People just get so into otp sometimes that it's hard to find a good story.

ahahaha, that's what I'm trying not to do but they're sitting on the counter practically begging me to.

I can get really, really into OTPs but I try not to recycle ideas or if I do, I try a new twist to them. Reading a lot of romance between couples that feels like I picked up a penny novel and the names were changed bother me a lot. Or when someone writes very out of character to further their snuggles it... it kills me internally.

Haha. I commented on your recent post and missed this one.

I can give you some recs if you'd like! (For books + for fanfic.) What sort of fandoms are you looking for fic in? I usually skim through the romance bits of fanfic myself. But I have a few gen fics for various things tucked away.

For books - I'm obsessed with Megan Whalen Turner's Attolia books. (Starting with The Thief). They're set in a pseudo-Grecian society complete with their own pantheon and mythology. I'm normally not a fan of past tense first person narratives but she still manages to pull off one of my fucking favorite twists in books, and the second book is SO MUCH BETTER than the first. (The first was kind of dry until the latter half. )

while endlessly silly the Percy Jackson books are always really fun after you get used to the writers style and the sequel series (Heroes of Olympus) fixes nearly all the problems I had with the 1st series. UHM. I also really loved the Assassin's Curse duo of books too.

I would love some recs. I love the Percy Jackson series and have no qualms about reading more. I adore the first series, whatever. It was awesome to me. As for actual fics, I don't know. I'm not really into a lot of fandoms anymore that aren't video game related since the drama I can't deal with :/

I'm still looking for great Zelda fics but ugggh.

I've heard of that series, the Thief, but never bothered... yet. I'll definitely check it out, thanks so much!

Percy Jackson is REALLY REALLY GREAT. And there's a pretty decent crossover fic between that and the Kane Chronicles where Anubis ends up accidentally possessing Nico. here. It's massively AU for both series, since it was written before Heroes of Olympus and the final 2 Kane Chronicles books. So knowledge of the Kane Chronicles isn't really needed. (It's also genfic! I love Percy/Annabeth but hate the way 90% of fic writers write them.)

Yeah. I know what you mean about fandom drama. :/ I love reading fic but its really hard sometimes. :/

I don't read Zelda fic sadly! I read Kingdom Hearts fic - or try to. I've read a couple of decent fic for The World Ends WIth You. But that's about it for video game related fic. :/

It's really worth reading. It starts off slow. (The first half of the book is basically walking, talking about gods and goddesses and Gen being a smug little shit to everybody.) but the payout once you get to book two is AWESOME.

If you want a good story rec, there's the Alex Rider series. It's about a 14 year old boy who gets blackmailed into working for MI6. You know for kids.

If you want a good Pokemon fanfic rec, there's Beyond the Walls by MetalPrincess13. It's based around Gary, and is one of my personal favourites (there is, of course, self harm and attempted suicide. It helps that it's done tastefully). There's romance in it, but it's woven in so it works with the plot (it's pretty much slice of life, though). Her other fanfic, Secrets Told, is also good, and has a Gary/Tracey crack pairing, though the main focus is Gary struggling to come to terms with his sexuality.

Boom. Kindle'd.

Thanks for the recs :D I usually like reading at night before I go to bed that series will provide a lot of amusement. Because I am a kid. Still.

It's one of my favourite series'! It's got a brilliant character development and plot!
